Madison Eliza Drew

BA (Hons) Fashion Design

Fashion is often viewed as a tool of social power. However, as we delve deeper into this new age of individuality society has begun to use fashion as a celebration of the self.

My collection is a celebration of the person who helped shaped my own identity. My work is a reflection of my emotional journey after I lost my nan and how I reminisced over the things that she had taught me throughout my life.

I used creative and unique shapes with fabric to portray and read the words nurture and home which is how I feel thinking of her. Alongside my nans own drawings, I used to create my print as a reflection of the artistic passion she encouraged within me. As well as her favourite silhouette designs from the 70’s and a mixture of her buttons from her lifelong collection and my own.

As a designer, I will continue to create ethical fashion that encourages self – identity of our own personal values we have curated throughout our life.

Mae ffasiwn yn aml yn cael ei weld fel arf pŵer cymdeithasol. Fodd bynnag, wrth inni dreiddio’n ddyfnach i’r oes newydd hon o unigolrwydd mae cymdeithas wedi dechrau defnyddio ffasiwn fel dathliad o’r hunan.

Mae fy nghasgliad yn ddathliad o’r person a helpodd i lunio fy hunaniaeth fy hun. Mae fy ngwaith yn adlewyrchiad o fy siwrnai emosiynol ar ôl i mi golli fy nain a sut wnes i hel atgofion am y pethau roedd hi wedi eu dysgu i mi trwy gydol fy mywyd.

Defnyddiais siapiau creadigol ac unigryw gyda ffabrig i bortreadu a darllen y geiriau ‘magwraeth’ a ‘cartref’ a dyna sut dwi’n teimlo wrth feddwl amdani. Ochr yn ochr â darluniau fy nain fy hun, roeddwn i’n arfer creu fy mhrint fel adlewyrchiad o’r angerdd artistig roedd hi’n ei annog ynof. Yn ogystal â’i hoff ddyluniadau silwét o’r 70au a chymysgedd o’i botymau o’i chasgliad gydol oes a fy un i.

Fel dylunydd, byddaf yn parhau i greu ffasiwn foesegol sy’n annog hunan-hunaniaeth o’n gwerthoedd personol ein hunain yr ydym wedi’u curadu ar hyd ein hoes.
