BA (Hons) Fashion Design

My graduate collection ‘a(A/a)’ documents my journey of finding myself on a personal level and as a designer. The need to find and understand oneself before promoting to the rest of the world was vital; and took advantage of such opportunity.

I have experimented with fabric manipulations using a range of materials. Developing these into design ideas by using my customer experience at Christian Dior, London, and ongoing inspiration from Alexander McQueen. Combining both inspirational companies with Burberry, I found myself, and expressed this through the form of fashion, exposing my mental health issues and eating disorder. All my research and inspiration enabled me to reflect the sophisticated, yet edgy side of my characteristics.

To highlight that nothing is permanent, engaging security and stability, I chose to work with hardwearing materials, like, gabardine, coated cotton, metal eyelets, steel clips and aluminium chains.

To relate to the future consumer and respond to the current daily challenges faced i.e., global pandemic and Ukraine VS Russia war…consumers will need comfort, safety, stability, and reassurance. My fabrics, colour scheme and silhouettes enable consumers to feel whole and given opportunity to find their own identity and showcase it through fashion, without judgement, instead safety and reassurance.

Mae fy nghasgliad ‘a(A/a)’ ar gyfer fy ngradd yn cofnodi fy nhaith o ganfod fy hun ar lefel bersonol ac fel dylunydd. Roedd yr angen i ganfod a deall fy hun cyn hyrwyddo i weddill y byd yn hanfodol; a chymryd mantais o’r fath gyfle.

Rwyf wedi arbrofi â ffurfio defnydd gan ddefnyddio amrywiaeth o ddefnyddiau. Datblygu’r rhain yn syniadau dylunio drwy ddefnyddio fy mhrofiad fel cwsmer Christian Dior, Llundain, a’r ysbrydoliaeth barhaus oddi wrth Alexander McQueen. Cefais fy hun yn cyfuno’r ddau gwmni ysbrydoledig yma gyda Burberry, ac yn mynegi hyn drwy ffurf ffasiwn, gan ddatgelu fy heriau iechyd meddwl ac anhwylder bwyta. Galluogodd fy holl ymchwil ac ysbrydoliaeth fi i ystyried ochr soffistigedig, ond cyfoes fy nghyneddfau.

Er mwyn pwysleisio’r ffaith nad oes unrhyw beth yn barhaol, gan ymgysylltu â diogelwch a sefydlogrwydd, dewisais weithio gyda defnyddiau caled, fel gabardin, cotwm cotiog, llygadennau metel, clipiau dur a chadwyni alwminiwm.

Er mwyn cysylltu â chwsmer y dyfodol ac ymateb i’r heriau dyddiol cyfredol h.y., y pandemig byd-eang a’r rhyfel rhwng Wcráin a Rwsia … bydd angen cysur, diogelwch, sefydlogrwydd a sicrwydd ar ddefnyddwyr. Mae fy nefnyddiau, cynllun lliwiau a silwetau’n galluogi defnyddwyr i deimlo’n gyfan ac yn cael y cyfle i ganfod eu hunaniaeth eu hunain a’i ddangos drwy gyfrwng ffasiwn, heb feirniadaeth, yn hytrach na diogelwch a sicrwydd.
