My work is concerned with articulating the experience of contemporary women primarily through an illustrative, kitschy aestethic creating detailed, colourful digital art pieces. I construct relatable, vibrant characters that speak to the millenial experience featuring carefully constructed outlandish fashion pieces. I set these characters in equally vibrant world and interiors using motifs from current events, modern life, art pieces, stories and myths creating a heavily embellished symbolism rich pieces. I’m particularly interested in combining media, upscaling my digital worlds onto large fabric pieces then embellishing and embroidering on top of that. I love the combination of old and new matching the kitschy feminist social media illustrative style with its traditional counterpart. I use textiles as a homage to female creativity as a medium it has a rich history of female creativityand making and it’s satisfying to pair that with a medium so popular with female creatives now. I really want to give a voice to my own experience as a woman today as well as being relatable to the demographic some of my pieces feel almost semi-autobiographical, I’m articulating what I feel is important and no two women are alike. I’m inspired by painters such as Mickalene Thomas and contemporary feminist illustrators like Polly Nor who pushes her digital work into exciting installations.

Mae fy ngwaith yn ymwneud â chyfleu profiad merched cyfoes yn bennaf drwy ddarnau celf digidol, lliwgar, manwl. Rydw i‘n creu cymeriadau bywiog. sy’n berthnasol gyfoes yn cynnwys creu darnau ffasiwn anarferol yn ofalus. Rydw i’n gosod y cymeriadau hyn mewn byd a sefyllfaoedd yr un mor fywiog gan ddefnyddio motifau o ddigwyddiadau cyfoes, o fywyd modern, darnau celf, storïau a chwedlau gan greu darnau cyfoethog llawn symboliaeth. Mae gen i ddiddordeb mawr mewn cyfuno cyfryngau, gan uwchraddio fy mydoedd digidol ar ddarnau mawr o ffabrig ac yna’u haddurno a‘u brodio. Rydw i‘n hoff iawn o gyfuno‘r hen a’r newydd gan fatsio arddull darluniadol y cyfryngau cymdeithasol ffeministaidd ,‘kitschy‘ gyda’r hyn sy’n cyfateb yn draddodiadol. Rydw i‘n defnyddio tecstilau fel teyrnged i greadigrwydd merched ac fel cyfrwng mae hanes cyfoethog i greadigrwydd merched ac mae’n rhoi boddhad i mi baru hynny gyda chyfrwng sydd mor boblogaidd ymhlith merched creadigol, Rydw i‘n awyddus i fynegi fy mhrofiad fy hun fel merch heddiw yn ogystal â bod yn berthnasol i drwch y boblogaeth; mae rhai o fy narnau yn teimlo’n lled hunangofiannol. Rydw i’n cyfleu’r hyn sy’n bwysig i mi ac nid oes unrhyw ddwy ferch yn debyg. Ces fy ysbrydoli gan artistiaid megis Mickalene Thomas a darlunwyr ffeministaidd cyfoes megis Polly Nor sydd yn gwthio’i gwaith digidol i mewn i osodiadau sydd eisoes yn bodoli.

My artwork was initially inspired by the rave scene which is usually an intense environment of music, colour and lights. I decided to recreate the feelings that my experience evoked, with the use of illuminative acrylics and spray paints on canvas. As spray painting...

Our species has become increasingly disconnected from nature. I focus on landscapes of personal significance and/or landscapes that have been disrupted by industrial use. Materials from these sites (often rocks, muds, and bricks) are used through a process-orientated...

Non-linear narratives such as unreliable memories, leaky dreams and deja vu are a central reference within my practice. I address the structure of these forms of narrative using repetition, replication and iterations of time. My work is largely sculptural, using...

Exploring the fragmentation of memory through the physicality of found objects and the spoken word, my work has become an archive of my family history. Due to the archival nature of my work, I replicate ways of preserving my objects through the attentiveness of their...

In my current practice I am concerned with the objectivity and phenomenology of colour. Through using media such as light and coloured acetate, my present work is intentionally focused and uncluttered, allowing colour to be considered as a singularity without any...

With a love for colour my work addresses form and shape and the impact this has on a space. I am demonstrating how the use of bright colour can create maximum optical impact. I’m interested in pattern and repetition to create a visual aesthetic whilst whilst working...
