My current practice explores themes of cathartic expression through embracing queer failure, this notion being that a queer existence is comprised of unavoidable failures. Personal issues are used to drive my work – making abstract depictions of fears and failures I experience. Previous exploration has been using abstract self-portraits and installation to exhibit vulnerability and time and emotions passing. Leading to my current experimentation into the use of textile to narrate confines, emotions and reflections of social pressure.

I am interested in the effects changes in depth and texture can create through the medium of tufting and textile. My use of colour portrays different emotions experienced at the time of creating. The natural earth toned palette further accentuates the rawness and vulnerability felt when making these works.

The direction of this work leads to a developing installation of a 3-Dimensional, failed world. Allowing for intricate designs and ideas to develop by creating interactive and tactile exhibits for the audience to manipulate and engage with, therefore becoming a part of the illusory realm themselves.

Fy mwriad drwy gyfrwng fy ngwaith celf yw cael fy ngwylwyr i fod yn fwy ymwybodol o botensial a rhinweddau eu deunyddiau ac felly cael mwy o barch at y deunyddiau rydym yn eu defnyddio fel artistiaid ac i archwilio deunyddiau mewn ffyrdd newydd a chyffrous. Defnyddir materion personol i yrru fy ngwaith – gwneud darluniadau abstract o’r ofnau a’r methiannau rwy’n eu hwynebu. Mae archwiliadau blaenorol wedi bod yn defnyddio hunanbortreadau haniaethol a gosodiadau i arddangos bregusrwydd ac amser ac emosiynau’n mynd heibio. Gan arwain at fy arbrofion cyfredol i’r defnydd o decstiliau i gyfleu cyfyngderau, emosiynau ac adlewyrchiadau o bwysau cymdeithasol.

Mae gennyf ddiddordeb yn yr effaith y gall newidiadau mewn dyfnder a gwead eu creu drwy gyfrwng cudynnu a thecstilau. Mae fy nefnydd o liw yn cyfleu’r gwahanol emosiynau a deimlwyd adeg y creu. Mae’r palet ton o liwiau daear naturiol yn pwysleisio ymhellach y teimladau amrwd a bregus wrth greu’r gweithiau hyn.

Mae cyfeiriad y gwaith yma yn arwain at ddatblygu gosodiad o fyd 3 dimensiwn, sydd wedi methu. Caniatáu i ddyluniadau a syniadau cywrain ddatblygu drwy greu deunydd arddangos rhyngweithiol a chyffyrddol i’r gynulleidfa allu eu trin ac ymgysylltu â nhw, a thrwy hynny ddod yn rhan o’r byd rhithiol eu hunain.

My artwork was initially inspired by the rave scene which is usually an intense environment of music, colour and lights. I decided to recreate the feelings that my experience evoked, with the use of illuminative acrylics and spray paints on canvas. As spray painting...

Our species has become increasingly disconnected from nature. I focus on landscapes of personal significance and/or landscapes that have been disrupted by industrial use. Materials from these sites (often rocks, muds, and bricks) are used through a process-orientated...

Non-linear narratives such as unreliable memories, leaky dreams and deja vu are a central reference within my practice. I address the structure of these forms of narrative using repetition, replication and iterations of time. My work is largely sculptural, using...

Exploring the fragmentation of memory through the physicality of found objects and the spoken word, my work has become an archive of my family history. Due to the archival nature of my work, I replicate ways of preserving my objects through the attentiveness of their...

In my current practice I am concerned with the objectivity and phenomenology of colour. Through using media such as light and coloured acetate, my present work is intentionally focused and uncluttered, allowing colour to be considered as a singularity without any...

With a love for colour my work addresses form and shape and the impact this has on a space. I am demonstrating how the use of bright colour can create maximum optical impact. I’m interested in pattern and repetition to create a visual aesthetic whilst whilst working...
