Textural Exploration

I work as a multidisciplinary artist focusing in sculpture. My 3d practice focuses on textures particularly those in nature that have repetitive patterns. These tend to be recurring structural features in forms such as corals and some microscopic objects for example seeds, pollen and bacteria. Those influences have inspired these 3d Ceramic pieces and their presentation.

I enjoy making time consuming work that consist of repetitive forms, all of which are individually hand made. This is partly due to my obsession for having a high level of personal input in my work and enjoying the variation that comes with human error. Being able to see the progressions in method and alterations in the representation of the natural textures offers an evolutionary appearance to them. This apparent evolution is my favourite connection to the natural inspirations. Seeing the many pieces together enables you to pick out similarities and differences between them and work out how the progressions have been made.
