Pen y Fan Visitor Centre and Hostel

A proposal for a hostel/visitor centre in Pont ar Daf in heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, which uses a philosophy and construction method which has been developed using recycled materials and materials from as many re-used/reclaimed sources as possible with a non-experienced workforce in mind, whilst also having as little effect on the site as possible.

To allow ease of construction and de-construction the building method has been adapted to using interlocking elements and elements with no permanent fixings so that the buildings can be erected and taken back down following simple steps with virtually no debris.

The construction method follows a humble step by step guide which allows each material to be interlocked or fixed to the previous until the building is finished, allowing for a safer construction in less time and maximizing the use of plant in every stage and minimizing the effect on the natural environment around the site.
