Mayan Refresh is a collection designed for decorative interior pieces such as lampshades and cushions, influenced by ancient Mesoamerican artefacts. I am fascinated by cultures from around the world and enjoy exploring them through surface pattern design. The name of the collection is a reference to the light, fresh colour palette; it is a new take on ancient designs and appears in colours the market may not expect. Lino printing and watercolour painting are the techniques used throughout the collection. I like to use these traditional methods in my work because each print and painting is unique, giving the collection a handcrafted artisan feel to it.

Mae Mayan Refresh yn gasgliad a luniwyd ar gyfer darnau addurno’r cartref megis lamplenni a chlustogau a sbardunwyd gan arteffactau hynafol Meso Americanaidd. Mae diwylliannau’r byd yn fy niddori a dw i’n mwynhau eu harchwilio drwy ddylunio patrymau arwyneb. Mae enw’r casgliad yn cyfeirio at y lliwiau golau, ffres yr ydw i’n eu defnyddio; mae’n cynnig golwg newydd ar ddyluniadau hynafol ac yn ymddangos mewn lliwiau nad yw’r farchnad yn eu disgwyl efallai. Y technegau a ddefnyddir drwy’r casgliad yw printio leino a pheintio dyfrlliw. Dw i’n hoffi defnyddio’r dulliau traddodiadol hyn oherwydd bod pob print a pheintiad yn unigryw, yn rhoi’r teimlad o waith llaw crefftwr i’r gwaith.
