BA (Hons) Ceramics

There is narrative in everything. Materials are imbued with stories even before we start moulding them into shape. Clay is no exception, from the site from which it is dug, to the geological strata of the earth, it spans histories! All this before an artist decides on what to do with it! It is the perfect medium for education, for teaching children about their world. My practice is concerned with using creativity to teach and finding ways in which clay can be placed centrally in the primary curriculum.

Mae naratif ym mhob dim. Mae deunyddiau yn llawn straeon hyd yn oed cyn i ni ddechrau eu mowldio’n siâp. Nid yw clai’n eithriad i hynny, o’r safle lle caiff ei gloddio, i haenau daearegol y ddaear, mae’n rhychwantu hanesion! A hyn i gyd cyn i artist benderfynu beth i’w wneud ag ef! Dyma’r cyfrwng perffaith am addysg, am addysgu plant am eu byd. Mae f’arfer yn ymwneud â defnyddio creadigedd i addysgu a darganfod dulliau o osod clai’n ganolog yn y cwricwlwm cynradd.
