BA (Hons) Product Design

I have never been the strongest reader or writer. Academic subjects were always a challenge for me at school, but design gave me the opportunity to be creative, innovative and excel during my younger school career. As a consequence, this led to my passion for the practice and everything that comes with it, from the drawing board to the creation. Over the years I have developed and specialised my skills allowing me to take on bigger and difficult briefs, enabling me to become a well-rounded and effective designer. I believe my strongest suit lies with ideation and critical thinking, as my knowledge is varied, and I have the ability to put myself in the user’s shoes. As a person, I am amiable, easy-going and ultimately very enthusiastic about life. These personality strengths only benefit me as a designer, thus allowing me to successfully collaborate and bring the best out of others.

The power that design has is instrumental to the world becoming environmentally sustainable. It is the responsibility of any new designer to take on this momentous challenge bit by bit. This is what I try and do with every project, every brief, no matter the constraints, in the words of ‘Tesco’, “every little helps”. This is certainly true in the case of designers and the power we hold for a better future.

Nid wyf erioed wedi bod yn gryf iawn o ran darllen nac ysgrifennu. Roedd pynciau academaidd bob amser yn her i mi yn yr ysgol, ond rhoddodd dylunio’r cyfle i mi fod y greadigol, yn arloesol a rhagori yn ystod fy ngyrfa ysgol ifancach. O ganlyniad, arweiniodd hyn at f’angerdd am yr arfer a phopeth sy’n dod gydag ef, o’r bwrdd dylunio i’r gwaith creu. Dros y blynyddoedd rwy wedi datblygu a mireinio fy sgiliau gan ganiatáu i mi gymryd prosiectau mwy o faint ac anos, a thrwy hynny ddod yn ddylunydd cyflawn ac effeithiol. Credaf mai syniadu a meddwl beirniadol yw fy sgiliau cryfaf, gan fod gennyf wybodaeth amrywiol, ac mae gennyf y gallu i feddwl o safbwynt y defnyddiwr. Fel person, rwy’n hynaws, yn ddibryder ac yn y pen draw yn frwdfrydig iawn am fywyd. Mae cryfderau hyn fy mhersonoliaeth o fudd i mi fel dylunydd, gan adael i mi gydweithredu’n llwyddiannus a chael y gorau allan o bobl eraill.

Mae’r grym sydd gan ddylunio yn ganolog i’r bod ddod yn fwy cynaliadwy’n amgylcheddol. Cyfrifoldeb unrhyw ddylunydd newydd yw ysgwyddo’r her anferth hon bob yn dipyn. Dyma beth geisiaf ei wneud gyda phob prosiect, pob briff, beth bynnag bo’r cyfyngiadau, yng ngeiriau ‘Tesco’, “every little helps”. Mae hyn yn ddi-os yn wir yn achos dylunwyr a’r grym sydd yn ein dwylo am ddyfodol gwell.

A portable den for children

This project holds a special place in my heart, it was to design a portable den for children. I tackled this by designing a den building kit, which revolves around an octagonal shaped canvas. This allows for many forms to be made, allowing the child’s imagination run wild.

Water bottle & pill box

This storage project pushed me in a medical direction. I designed a water bottle/pill box, for people on the move.

Bulb Pendant Light

This is my Bulb pendant light, made with steam bending. It is designed to suit a natural vibe, maybe in a log cabin in the alps!

Buoyger

This is the BUOYGER. A burger shaped buoy, for those wanting a bit of fun in the marina. Just a little ice breaker.
