Since beginning CSAD I have realised the importance of social design and in particular creating work to help better someone or a group lives. With this in mind I decided to focus my project on helping people better understand the struggles sufferers of psoriasis face. Psoriasis is a skin condition which can leave sufferers with sore scaly patches on their body. My aim was to use an interactive piece to help people understand how someone with this problem may feel.

After developing the idea further I realised that I could help more than just psoriasis sufferers. I decided to make the project an educational pack including a range of medical conditions which would include the interactive element and work booklets. The interactive piece gives the user prompts related to mental (blue), physical (red) and social (green) problems a sufferer of the particular problem may face. The experience is designed to be overwhelming as sometimes this is how it can feel to the sufferers. This would effectively be used in upper primary and secondary schools using the interactive whiteboard.

1/5 of all children are bullied during their time in education and often these children have medical conditions.Try Their Skin would help reduce the exclusion of children who may have medical conditions and help other children have a better understanding of other peoples problems.

Ers dechrau CSAD rwyf wedi sylweddoli pwysigrwydd dylunio cymdeithasol ac yn benodol creu gwaith i helpu gwella bywyd unigolyn neu grŵp. Gyda hyn mewn cof penderfynais ffocysu fy mhrosiect ar helpu pobl i ddeall y brwydrau y mae dioddefwyr psorïasis yn eu hwynebu. Mae psorïasis yn gyflwr y croen sy’n gadael dioddefwyr gyda chlytiau cennog, dolurus ar eu cyrff. Fy nod oedd defnyddio darn rhyngweithiol i helpu pobl i ddeall sut y gallai rhywun sydd â’r broblem hon fod yn teimlo.

Ar ôl datblygu’r syniad ymhellach, sylweddolais y gallwn helpu mwy na dim ond dioddefwyr psorïasis. Penderfynais wneud y prosiect yn becyn addysgol sy’n cynnwys ystod o gyflyrau meddygol a fyddai’n cynnwys yr elfen ryngweithiol a llyfrynnau gwaith. Mae’r darn rhyngweithiol yn rhoi ysgogiadau i’r defnyddiwr ynglŷn â’r problemau meddyliol (glas), corfforol (coch) a chymdeithasol (gwyrdd) y gallai dioddefwr y cyflwr penodol fod yn eu hwynebu. Mae’r profiad wedi’i ddylunio i fod yn llethol gan mai dyma sut y gall teimlo i’r dioddefwyr weithiau. Byddai hyn yn cael ei ddefnyddio’n effeithiol ar ddiwedd ysgol gynradd ac mewn ysgolion uwchradd gan ddefnyddio’r bwrdd gwyn rhyngweithiol.

Mae 1/5 o’r holl blant yn cael eu bwlio yn ystod eu hamser mewn addysg ac yn aml mae gan y plant hyn gyflyrau meddygol. Byddai Try Their Skin yn helpu gostwng eithrio plant sydd efallai â chyflyrau meddygol a helpu plant eraill i ddeall problemau pobl eraill yn well.
