Inspiration for my project was drawn from research into Abstract Expressionism. From further research I discovered that they created art for themselves and that it was all about the mind, body and soul. A lot of artists were religious so that had an influence on their work as well. However, many painted from sounds and let music guide the way in their creations. This idea was something that resonated with me and within my work. I became fascinated with how different music genres could influence my mood and emotions. I then translated these feelings into my final collections.

I used different music genres to influence my mood which then translated into 4 different sub-collections all with very different outcomes. I found that colour had a huge influence within my work. Upon this discovery it led me to research colour theory, this also links back to mood and emotions.

My work is a mix of digital designs and handcrafted fabrics using different dyeing and printing methods. I have also used hand embroidery and machine stitch to add layers and detailing to my final designs. This project has allowed me to be very experimental and try out lots of new medias which is something that I plan to take forward in the future. I have formed an obsession for interesting textures, layers and a new love for being abstract.

Daeth yr ysbrydoliaeth ar gyfer fy mhrosiect drwy ymchwil i Fynegiadaeth Haniaethol. Drwy ymchwil bellach, darganfyddais eu bod yn creu celf i’w hunain, a’i fod yn ymwneud â’r meddwl, y corff a’r enaid. Roedd llawer o artistiaid yn grefyddol, felly cafodd hynny ddylanwad ar eu gwaith hefyd. Serch hynny, roedd llawer yn paentio ar sail synau, ac yn gadael i gerddoriaeth eu tywys yn eu creadigaethau. Roedd y syniad yma’n rhywbeth roeddwn ni’n uniaethu ag ef ac yn fy ngwaith. Cefais fy swyno gan sut gallai gwahanol genres cerddoriaeth ddylanwadu ar fy hwyliau ac fy emosiynau. Yna, trosais i’r teimladau yma i fy nghasgliadau terfynol.

Defnyddiais wahanol genres cerddoriaeth i ddylanwadu ar fy hwyliau, ac fe drosodd hyn i bedwar is-gasgliad, a phob un â chanlyniadau gwahanol iawn. Dysgais fod lliw yn cael dylanwad enfawr ar fy ngwaith. Ar ôl darganfod hyn, es i ati i ymchwilio i ddamcaniaeth lliw, mae hyn hefyd yn cysylltu’n ôl â hwyliau ac emosiynau.

Mae fy ngwaith yn gymysgedd o ddyluniadau digidol a ffabrigau wedi’u crefftio â llaw gan ddefnyddio gwahanol ddulliau lliwio a phrintio. Rydw i wedi defnyddio brodwaith llaw a phwythau peiriant hefyd i ychwanegu haenau a manylion i fy nyluniadau terfynol. Mae’r prosiect yma wedi caniatáu i fi fod yn arbrofol iawn a rhoi cynnig ar lawer o gyfryngau newydd, sy’n rhywbeth rydw i’n bwriadu parhau i’w wneud yn y dyfodol. Rydw i wedi ffurfio obsesiwn am weadau diddorol a haenau, a chariad newydd at fod yn haniaethol.
