Dorcas Sanya

BA (Hons) Textiles

I am an artist and a designer. Within my work I like to explore shapes, colours and patterns.

From completing my undergraduate degree studying Textiles, I have developed an interest in continuing and freelancing as a printed textiles and surface pattern designer.

My work is greatly inspired by my surroundings, hence why my theme is inspired by the world around me.

For my graduate collection my focus was drawn to nature. My collection focuses on woodland life, creating repeating designs of insects, plants, flowers, fruits and birds for the lifestyle and stationery products. I especially enjoy creating my initial sketches and designs onto paper with the use of both wet and dry media.

My main area of focus after completing my degree is to continue building my portfolio for pattern designs with women’s wear and accessories.

Rwy’n arlunydd a dylunydd. Rwy’n hoff o archwilio siapiau, lliwiau a phatrymau yn fy ngwaith.

Trwy gwblhau fy ngradd yn astudio tecstilau, rydw i wedi meithrin diddordeb mewn parhau â’r grefft a throi’n weithiwr llawrydd fel dylunydd tecstilau printiedig a phatrwm ar yr wyneb.

Yr hyn sydd o’m cwmpas sy’n ysgogi fy ngwaith, felly dyna pam mae fy thema wedi’i hysbrydoli gan y byd o’m cwmpas.
Ar gyfer fy nghasgliad terfynol, tynnwyd fy sylw at natur. Mae’r casgliad yn canolbwyntio ar fywyd y goedwig, gan greu dyluniadau ailadroddus o bryfed, planhigion, blodau, ffrwythau ac adar ar gyfer cynhyrchion ffordd o fyw a deunyddiau ysgrifennu. Rwy’n cael cryn bleser o greu brasluniau a dyluniadau cychwynnol ar bapur, gyda chyfryngau sych a gwlyb.

Ar ôl cwblhau fy ngradd, byddaf yn canolbwyntio’n bennaf ar adeiladu fy mhortffolio ar gyfer creu cynlluniau patrwm i ddillad ac ategolion menywod.
