Drew Natalia Cook

BA (Hons) Textiles

Drew is a Designer-Maker from the heart of South Wales. She is a multidisciplinary artist although the majority of her work comprises of Surface Pattern Design.

Growing up in the countryside with an abundance of nature at her fingertips she has always found herself seeking inspiration from her surroundings. Drew enjoys the tactility of geological surfaces and movement found in the lines and shapes of flora and fauna.
Influenced by Scandinavia and personally experiencing true Hygge, (a feeling of warm, happy cosiness), Drew’s collection embraces the happiness that is obtained from nature. Subtle hues and tones of earthy colour are reflected and expressed through mark making which is then utilised digitally to produce patterns intended for interior furnishings. Drew’s collection also explores Scandinavian landscapes creating abstract paintings from the lines and form found in the geological landscapes.

Mae Drew yn Ddyluniwr-Crëwr o galon De Cymru. Mae hi’n artist amlddisgyblaethol ond mae’r mwyafrif o’i gwaith yn ymwneud â dylunio Patrymau Arwyneb.

Gan dyfu i fyny yn y cefn gwlad gyda chyfoeth o natur ar flaenau ei bysedd mae hi bob amser wedi cael ei hun yn ceisio ysbrydoliaeth gan yr hyn sydd o’i chwmpas. Mae Drew yn mwynhau hydeimledd arwynebau daearegol a’r symudiad a geir yn llinellau a siapiau fflora a ffawna.
A hithau wedi’i dylanwadu gan Sgandinafia a phrofiad personol o Hygge go iawn (ymdeimlad cynnes, hapus a chlyd), mae casgliad Drew yn cofleidio’r hapusrwydd a geir o natur. Adlewyrchir a mynegir arlliwiau a thonau lliwiau priddlyd trwy wneud marciau, sydd wedyn yn cael eu defnyddio’n ddigidol i gynhyrchu patrymau a fwriedir ar gyfer dodrefnu mewnol. Mae casgliad Drew hefyd yn archwilio tirweddau Sgandinafaidd gan greu paentiadau haniaethol o’r llinellau a’r ffurf a geir yn y tirweddau daearegol.
