Eleanor Sykes

BA (Hons) Illustration

Eleanor Sykes is an illustrator who uses her practice as a tool to investigate the world around her. Using colour and absurdity, Eleanor’s illustrations are a discovery through visual conversation. Her work discusses what it means to be human, often honing in on the mundane moments. It is these moments that make us human, after all.

This project itself communicates how nature can bring us hope. It follows a story that narrates the ways in which mother nature can be a restorative tool. Living in a period of lockdown has forced us to look at the world in a new light and find new ways to cope and nature has been a place for us to connect with ourselves and heal.

Darlunydd yw Eleanor Sykes sy’n defnyddio ei gwaith fel arf i ymchwilio i’r byd o’i chwmpas. Drwy ddefnyddio lliw ac abswrdiaeth, mae darluniau Eleanor yn ddarganfyddiad drwy sgwrs weledol. Mae ei gwaith yn trafod beth mae’n ei olygu i fod yn ddynol, ac yn aml yn canolbwyntio ar y pethau cyffredin. Wedi’r cyfan, dyma’r pethau sy’n ein gwneud ni’n ddynol.

Mae’r prosiect yma’n cyfleu sut gall natur ddod â gobaith i ni. Mae’n dilyn stori sy’n adrodd y ffyrdd y gall y fam ddaear fod yn offeryn adferol. Mae byw mewn cyfnod clo wedi ein gorfodi i edrych ar y byd mewn goleuni newydd a dod o hyd i ffyrdd newydd o ymdopi, ac mae natur wedi bod yn ffordd i ni gysylltu â ni’n hunain ac i wella.
