Jessica Bosley

BA (Hons) Textiles

I am a Surface Pattern, Textile designer. I specialise in researching trends, gathering relevant information and imagery to create my drawings and marks which I use digital medias to curate into designs. I love the rhythm of repetition with pattern and colour contrasts. I create marks and shapes, using different mediums such as collage, oil pastels, paint and use techniques such as mono printing and screen printing.

My main inspirations for my patterns come from unique architectural buildings that I feel can reflect my style, looking at the shapes that are formed within. They are then translated into my designs creating vibrant, playful, bold, graphic and at times a geometric twist.

This collection ‘Architectural Forms’ is inspired by my trip to Spain from over the summer which I have taken in all the beautiful Spanish architecture, identifying the geometric qualities, allowing me to create a modern collection of bedroom furnishings which demonstrates my vibrant, playful colour palette with an eye for using bold and exciting shapes with design and pattern making using digital software processes like Abobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator which help manipulate, repeat and push my shapes further.

Rwy’n ddylunydd tecstilau a phatrwm ar yr wyneb. Rwy’n arbenigo mewn ymchwilio i ffasiynau, casglu gwybodaeth berthnasol a delweddaeth i greu fy marciau a darluniau, gan ddefnyddio’r cyfryngau digidol i’w curadu’n gynlluniau. Rwy’n hoff iawn o rythm ailadrodd gyda chyferbyniadau lliw a phatrwm. Rwy’n creu marciau a siapiau, gan ddefnyddio gwahanol gyfryngau fel collage, pastelau olew, paent a thechnegau fel mono-brintio a sgrin-brintio.

Adeiladau pensaernïol unigryw yw prif ysbrydoliaeth fy mhatrymau, pethau rydw i’n teimlo sy’n gallu adlewyrchu fy arddull, gan ystyried y siapiau sy’n cael eu ffurfio oddi mewn. Rydw i wedyn yn trosi’r rhain yn gynlluniau â stamp chwareus, beiddgar, graffig ac weithiau geometrig.

Mae’r casgliad ‘Architectural Forms’ wedi’i ysbrydoli gan fy nhaith i Sbaen dros yr haf, lle sylwais ar bensaernïaeth hyfryd y wlad a nodi’r nodweddion geometrig. Caniataodd hyn fi i greu casgliad modern o gelfi ystafell wely sy’n dangos fy mhalet lliw bywiog, chwareus, gyda’r defnydd o siapiau beiddgar a chyffrous wrth ddylunio a chreu patrymau. Defnyddiais brosesau meddalwedd digidol fel Abobe Photoshop a Adobe Illustrator sy’n helpu i drin, ailadrodd a gwthio fy siapiau ymhellach.
