BA (Hons) Product Design

I believe that the beauty and creativity of design can be imparted not only to improve the lives of all others, but to equip the world with entirely new perspectives on how we can better the future. As someone who is deeply concerned about the current condition of the planet’s ecological health, I reflect this at any possible moment through-out my design projects. My major project focused upon sustainable bio-products allowing UK dairy farms to transition to re-wilding spaces, as well as a unique sculptural water fountain for my minor, highlighting the issues associated with plastic water bottle consumption.

I have adopted a user-focused approach allowing me to work in unison with the end user at all stages of my design process. I am a hands-on practical designer that firmly believes design and manufacture are inter-dependant on one another, and that you are depriving yourself as a designer if you are ignorant to how to create to your own designs.

Contemporary product design predominately exists to serve the exclusive benefit of humankind, often providing unnecessary products for the people who need it the least, whilst neglecting everything else that suffers as a consequence. Within our human-centric society, I want my work as a designer to exist to improve the quality of life, not just for people in genuine need of solutions, but for the entirety of all lifeforms whom we often forget that we share a planet with.

Credaf y gall harddwch a chreadigedd dyluniad gael ei gyfleu nid yn unig i wella bywydau pawb arall, ond i roi safbwyntiau cwbl newydd i’r byd ar sut allwn ni wella’r dyfodol. Fe rhywun sy’n pryderu’n fawr am gyflwr presennol iechyd ecolegol y blaned, rwy’n adlewyrchu hyn ar bob adeg bosibl trwy gydol fy mhrosiectau dylunio. Canolbwyntiodd fy mhrif brosiect ar fio-gynhyrchion cynaliadwy sy’n gadael i ffermydd llaeth y DU bontio i ail-wylltio ardaloedd, yn ogystal â ffynnon ddŵr gerfluniol unigryw am fy is-brosiect, sy’n amlygu ystyriaethau mewn perthynas â defnydd poteli dŵr plastig.

Rwy wedi mabwysiadu ymagwedd sy’n canolbwyntio ar y defnyddiwr sy’n gadael i mi weithio ar y cyd â’r defnyddiwr terfynol ar bob cam fy mhroses ddylunio. Rwy’n ddylunydd ymarferol sy’n credu’n gryf bod dylunio a gweithgynhyrchu yn rhyng-ddibynnol, a’ch bod yn amddifadu’ch hun fel dylunydd os nad ydych yn gwybod sut i greu eich dyluniadau eich hun.

Mae dylunio cynhyrchion cyfoes yn bodoli’n bennaf er budd dynolryw yn unig ar hyn o bryd, gan ddarparu cynhyrchion diangen yn aml i’r bobl sydd eu hangen leiaf, wrth anwybyddu popeth arall sy’n dioddef o ganlyniad. O fewn ein cymdeithas â’i ffocws ar fodau dynol, rwy am i’m gwaith i fel dylunydd fodoli i wella ansawdd bywyd, nid dim ond i bobl sydd â gwir angen atebion, ond i bob ffurf bywyd rydym yn anghofio’n aml ein bod yn rhannu planed â nhw.
