Reclaiming a connection to nature, is an enchanting faerie installation, utilising waste and environmentally friendly materials to create a piece exploring folklore and pagan history. Application of handcraft and dye to 3d prop form is a progressive move in my repertoire, breaking boundaries for myself and providing new insights into developing my work to an industry-accepted standard. Creating an immersive experience in my craft.

There is a plethora of research that we are distancing ourselves further from experiencing nature. One of the key reasons for this is humanities separation from spirituality. The magic of outside is no longer, muddy toes are shunned, we’ve become alienated from the natural world.

Through exploring materials which closely resemble the tactile experience of the natural world, using natural fibres where possible, in particular; cotton, velvet, felts, wool, clay and silks. Minimal synthetics and plastic unless upcycled waste within the piece. The faerie house is miniature in scale utilising internal sound and lighting and igniting enticing play with the outside world. I hope to inspire the imagination, through the focused detail of the exhibit.

Come and play, there’s a whole world outside.

Gosodiad hud a lledrith yw ‘Reclaiming a connection to nature’, gan ddefnyddio deunydd gwastraff a deunyddiau ecogyfeillgar i greu darn sy’n archwilio llên gwerin a hanes paganaidd. Mae’r broses o gymhwyso crefft llaw a llifynnau i ffurf prop 3D yn gam blaengar yn fy repertoire, gan ymestyn ffiniau personol a chyflwyno safbwyntiau newydd er mwyn datblygu fy ngwaith i safon dderbyniol i’r diwydiant. Creu profiad o ymgolli’n llwyr yn fy nghrefft.

Mae toreth o ymchwil yn dangos ein bod ni’n ymbellhau ymhellach rhag brofiadau natur. Un o’r rhesymau allweddol am hyn yw ymwahaniad dynoliaeth ag ysbrydolrwydd. Does dim hud i’r awyr agored mwyach, nid ydym yn gadael i’n plant faeddu tu fas, mae’r byd naturiol yn ddieithr inni.

Trwy archwilio deunyddiau sy’n debyg iawn i brofiad cyffyrddol byd natur, a defnyddio ffibrau naturiol lle bo modd, yn arbennig; cotwm, melfedau, ffeltiau, gwlân, clai a sidanau. Ychydig iawn o ddeunyddiau synthetig a phlastig a ddefnyddiaf, ac eithrio gwastraff wedi’i uwchgylchu o fewn y darn. Mae’r tŷ tylwyth teg yn fychan bach, ac yn defnyddio sain a goleuadau mewnol i gyfleu’r elfen o chwarae yn y byd allanol. Rwy’n gobeithio deffro’r dychymyg trwy fanylder arbennig yr arddangosiad.
Dewch i chwarae. Mae byd llawn posibiliadau tu fas.
