Megumi Morikawa

BA (Hons) Textiles

Megumi Morikawa is a twenty two year old surface pattern designer from Japan; who is currently residing in the UK. Megumi’s designs are fundamentally themed on abstract ideas. Her inspiration stems from objects that are often overlooked in the modern world; Megumi identifies said object and creates an abstract feature from that object. As an artist; Megumi appreciates the finer detail in these objects and it can be seen in her work. Megumi usually sets her colour palette as monochrome as her designs are minimalist. Her design is mostly suitable for fashion accessories and stationary; and decorative homeware. Her designs are often created digitally as Megumi likes to create patterns in which you can’t see from the naked eye but through manipulation.

Dylunydd patrymau ar yr wyneb yw Megumi Morikawa 22 oed o Siapan; sy’n byw yn y DU ar hyn o bryd. Mae dyluniadau Megumi wedi’u seilio ar syniadau haniaethol a’i hysbrydoliaeth yn deillio o wrthrychau sy’n aml yn angof yn y byd modern. Bydd Megumi yn nodi’r gwrthrych dan sylw ac yn creu elfen haniaethol ohono. Fel artist, mae Megumi yn gwerthfawrogi manylion mwy cain y gwrthrychau a adlewyrchir yn ei gwaith. Palet unlliw neu fonocrom sydd ganddi fel arfer, a minimalistaidd yw ei chynlluniau. Mae’n dylunio ar gyfer ategolion ffasiwn a deunyddiau ysgrifennu; ac addurniadau’r cartref. Caiff ei dyluniadau eu creu’n ddigidol, gan fod Megumi wrth ei bodd yn creu patrymau nad oedd modd eu gweld â’r llygad noeth, dim ond trwy eu trin â llaw.
