BA (Hons) Textiles

I am a Textiles Surface Pattern Designer and Illustrator, passionate about the world of Art and Design. I think it is important to surround yourself in a positive and uplifting environment and feel that textiles and surface patterns have the ability to play a large part in this. I enjoy working with lots of different medias from paints and threads to oil pastels and inks. My favourite thing is to combine them altogether in a way that makes them ‘click’ which is why the majority of my work involves mixed media.
My collection is inspired by The British Seaside. I wanted to create a bright, fun and exciting collection that encompasses all the natural elements of a British beach experience. I think there is something unique about the way the beach is experienced in the UK, come rain or shine people will make the effort to sit and experience all the elements it brings just for that small glimmer of sunshine. With that in mind I wanted my patterns to reflect the joy and optimism of the seaside whilst reflecting the blustery and wind-swept atmosphere.

Arlunydd a Dylunydd Patrymau Arwyneb Tecstilau ydw i, ac rwy’n angerddol am fyd Celf a Dylunio. Rwy’n credu ei bod hi’n bwysig amgylchynu eich hunan mewn amgylchedd cadarnhaol sy’n eich dyrchafu, ac rwy’n teimlo bod gan batrymau arwyneb a thecstilau’r gallu i chwarae rhan fawr yn hyn. Rwy’n mwynhau gweithio gyda llawer o wahanol gyfryngau, o baent ac edafedd i basteli olew ac inciau. Fy hoff beth yw eu cyfuno nhw gyda’i gilydd mewn ffordd sy’n gwneud iddyn nhw ‘glicio’, a dyna pam fod y rhan fwyaf o fy ngwaith yn cynnwys cyfryngau cymysg.
Mae fy nghasgliad wedi’i ysbrydoli gan Lan y Môr ym Mhrydain. Roeddwn i am greu casgliad llachar, hwyliog a chyffrous sy’n cwmpasu holl elfennau naturiol y profiad o fynd i’r traeth ym Mhrydain. Rwy’n credu bod rhywbeth unigryw am y ffordd y caiff y traeth ei brofi ym Mhrydain – boed hindda neu law, mae pobl yn ymdrechu i eistedd a phrofi’r holl elfennau mae’n eu cynnig, er mwyn cael llygedyn bach o heulwen. Gyda hynny mewn cof, roeddwn i’n awyddus i fy mhatrymau adlewyrchu llawenydd ac optimistiaeth glan y môr, drwy adlewyrchu’r awyrgylch gwyntog.
