Viktoriia Gertsen

BA (Hons) Artist Designer Maker

Viktoriia’s sculptural work questions the human condition, and is concerned with the subject of sexuality and the representation of the human body.

The grotesque, provocative nature of the work is based on the concept of the boundless complexity of the body. In her work she is creating a battlefield – pushing the limits of bodily expressionism in contemporary art. Intricate themes in her work are visually balanced with the delicate and sophisticated essence of porcelain fragments.

Viktoriia challenges the properties of porcelain, and carries on a dialogue between herself as an artist and the material through improvisation within the unstructured manner of her sculpting process.
