Body Image complications are dangerous and significant; many reports have identified that females who have low body confidence will often not partake in daily activities due to embarrassment and feeling a genuine hatred of their body. More serious consequences include eating disorders, alcohol abuse and long-term mental health problems.

Motivated by the severity that body image complications can have on women, my final major collection aims to celebrate body diversity by taking inspiration from the female form itself. My design development allowed me to draw from a range of body shapes and sizes which interprets into a primarily abstract collection where pattern has been taken directly from the body.

The outcome of this collection was to design a range of high end silk scarves with a feminine and luxurious approach. The concept of designing scarves came from making a garment which can be worn by everyone regardless of their dress size. Digital printing and hand rolled hems was the process I undertook to create these designs to ensure the quality met the high end market expectations. I hope that my collection will contribute to the body positive movement and help turn the stigma of body image into a more valuable outcome.

Mae cymhlethdodau delweddau corff yn beryglus ac arwyddocaol; mae nifer o adroddiadau wedi nodi na fydd menywod heb lawer o hyder yn eu cyrff yn cymryd rhan mewn gweithgareddau dyddiol oherwydd bod ganddyn gywilydd a gwir gasineb o’u cyrff. Ymhlith y canlyniadau mwy difrifol mae anhwylder bwyta, camddefnyddio alcohol a phroblemau salwch meddwl hirdymor.

Wedi fy sbarduno gan yr enbydrwydd y gall cymhlethdodau delwedd corff gael ar fenywod, nod fy nghasgliad terfynol ydy dathlu amrywiaeth cyrff a ches fy ysbrydoli gan y ffurf fenywaidd ei hun. Galluogodd fy nyluniad i mi ddefnyddio siâp a maint cyrff sy’n troi’n gasgliad haniaethol yn bennaf lle tynnwyd y patrwm yn uniongyrchol o’r corff.

Canlyniad y casgliad hwn oedd dylunio amrediad o sgarffiau sidan moethus. Cysyniad dylunio sgarffiau oedd gwneud dilledyn y gall pawb ei wisgo, waeth beth fo’u maint gwisg. Printio digidol a gwnïo hemiau â llaw oedd y broses a ddefnyddiais i greu’r dyluniadau hyn er mwyn sicrhau bod yr ansawdd yn cwrdd â safonau disgwyliadau pen ucha’r farchnad. Gobeithio y bydd fy nghasgliad yn cyfrannu at symudiad positif y corff a bod o gymorth i droi stigma delwedd y corff yn ganlyniad mwy gwerthfawr.
