Soul Fly

Coming from a fine art background, Rebecca’s work is a balancing act between concept and the overall aesthetic. She throws contorted forms in porcelain that become a metaphor for various human conditions; the exterior reflecting the physical and the interior expressing an emotional state of mind. In the ‘Soul fly’ series, Rebecca draws a connection between the body’s response to music and the overwhelming sense of catharsis felt, through the process of throwing.

Before starting any formal art education she used creative processes as a therapeutic outlet which resonates through her ceramic vessels. This body of work is heavily influenced by her own struggles with depression and anxiety and shares with the viewer the two most integral forms of Rebecca’s self-expression, ceramics and music.
