BA (Hons) Animation

From a very young age I have had an interest in animation and especially stop motion and clay motion. From the age of six, I watch a show called Wallace and Gromit and my mind was blown by how they moved and acted with the each other, and how they were created because at the time they were the first two characters I had seen made of clay or that type of style of animation. From that day onwards I wanted to find out how they made the characters move and talk to each other, so I went to animation clubs to understand and learn more on the subject and started to make my own animation. As the years past I started to explore how other types of film, like live action, and animations, like stop motion, were created and gaining a better understanding of the meaning of storytelling, and how to use it in my animations.

My aim through all of this is to display my understanding of storytelling, in the form of movement and in the personality shown in my characters and to display the types of set and prop making skills that I have learnt throughout this experience.

This film is based around the idea of Mary Poppins, but with a twist…… where it can be cheerful and happy, but with a hint of mystery and horror throughout the film.

Ers yn ifanc iawn, rydw i wedi ymddiddori mewn animeiddio, ac yn enwedig stop-symud a chlai-symud. Yn chwech oed, edrychais ar raglen Wallace a Gromit ac fe’m swynwyd yn llwyr gan y modd roedden nhw’n symud ac yn ymddwyn gyda’i gilydd, a sut y cawsant eu creu. Ar y pryd, dyma’r tro cyntaf i mi weld cymeriadau clai a’r arddull penodol hwnnw o animeiddio. O’r diwrnod hwnnw ymlaen, roeddwn eisiau dysgu sut roedden nhw’n gwneud i’r cymeriadau symud a siarad â’i gilydd, felly mynychais glybiau animeiddio i ddeall a dysgu mwy am y pwnc a dechrau creu fy animeiddio fy hun. Wrth i’r blynyddoedd fynd heibio, dechreuais ymchwilio i sut oedd creu mathau eraill o ffilm, fel ffilmiau byw ac animeiddio stop-symud, a chael gwell crebwyll o ystyr adrodd stori, a sut i ddefnyddio hynny yn fy animeiddiadau.

Fy nod drwy hyn i gyd yw arddangos fy nealltwriaeth o adrodd stori, ar ffurf symudiadau a phersonoliaethau fy nghymeriadau ac wrth arddangos y mathau o sgiliau gwneud setiau a phropiau a ddysgais drwy gydol y profiad hwn.

Mae’r ffilm yn seiliedig ar y syniad o Mary Poppins, ond gydag ystum i’r stori… ..lle y gall ymddangos yn ddigon siriol a hapus, ond gydag awgrym o ddirgelwch ac arswyd yn bresennol drwy gydol y ffilm.
