My initial ideas for this film revolved around the mixing of dreams and reality. How can a state of mind be conveyed though animation? I felt that the technique of stop motion specifically, as it’s grounded in reality (inanimate physical objects), is particularly good at evoking a dream like atmosphere. I want the audience to relate to the character, hear the music and feel the connection between sounds and feelings as the character struggles to control his life and emotions.

I see myself primarily as a maker. I am drawn to the richness of detail in every frame which is built by hand and how every small prop and detail within the miniature sets all contribute to a whole. I thrive on the challenge of problem solving, producing a three-dimensional puppet which is able to walk, move and convey personality. As an animator I am excited about the idea of bringing inanimate object to life through the stop motion animation process. It’s time consuming, but ultimately it is extremely rewarding.

My aspiration is to carry on developing my work as a model maker/sculptor/puppet maker and am excited about furthering my knowledge and skillset and applying them as a model maker and set builder within the animation and film industry.

Roedd fy syniadau cychwynnol ar gyfer y ffilm hon yn ymwneud â chymysgu breuddwydion a realiti. Sut gellir cyfleu cyflwr meddwl trwy animeiddio? Roeddwn i’n teimlo bod y dechneg stop-symud yn benodol, gan ei bod wedi’i gwreiddio mewn realiti (gwrthrychau ffisegol difywyd), yn arbennig o dda o ran dwyn awyrgylch breuddwydiol i gof. Dwi am i’r gynulleidfa uniaethu â’r cymeriad, clywed y gerddoriaeth a theimlo’r cysylltiad rhwng synau a theimladau wrth i’r cymeriad ymdrechu i reoli ei fywyd a’i emosiynau.

Dwi’n gweld fy hun fel gwneuthurwr yn bennaf. Dwi’n cael fy nenu at gyfoeth y manylder ym mhob ffrâm sydd wedi’i saernïo â llaw a sut mae pob prop a manylyn bach yn y setiau bach i gyd yn cyfrannu at gyfanwaith. Dwi’n ffynnu ar yr her o ddatrys problemau, gan gynhyrchu pyped tri dimensiwn sy’n gallu cerdded, symud a chyfleu personoliaeth. Fel animeiddiwr dwi’n teimlo’n gyffrous ynghylch y syniad o ddod â gwrthrych difywyd yn fyw trwy’r broses animeiddio stop-symud. Mae’n cymryd llawer iawn o amser, ond yn y pen draw mae’n werth chweil.

Fy uchelgais yw parhau i ddatblygu fy ngwaith fel gwneuthurwr modelau/cerflunydd/gwneuthurwr pypedau a dwi’n edrych ymlaen yn fawr at ddatblygu fy ngwybodaeth a’m sgiliau a’u cymhwyso nhw fel gwneuthurwr modelau ac adeiladwr setiau yn y diwydiant animeiddio a ffilm.
